AI for Construction: working with Kane Group on the future of digital delivery
Last week, I had the pleasure of delivering a one-day AI for Construction masterclass with the leadership team at Kane Group, a business widely recognised across the UK and Ireland for its progressive approach to innovation, digital transformation and modern methods of delivery.
Kane Group is already operating at a high level of maturity, particularly in how they think about technology as an enabler of better outcomes - for clients, projects and people alike. That made this session especially engaging. The conversation quickly moved beyond “what is AI?” into more meaningful territory: how AI can support strategic decision-making, workforce capability, operational efficiency and long-term competitiveness in construction.
What stood out most on the day was the mindset in the room. Open, curious, and appropriately challenging. The discussion was lively, practical and grounded in the realities of delivering complex M&E projects at scale. Rather than focusing on shiny tools, we explored where AI genuinely adds value across the construction lifecycle, from bid and tender support, to project delivery, commercial management, compliance and internal operations.
This is exactly where AI delivers its greatest return: not as a standalone technology project, but as part of a broader organisational and capability strategy. For companies like Kane Group, the opportunity lies in aligning AI with how the business already thinks about quality, delivery, risk and people, rather than forcing change for its own sake.
Days like this are a reminder of why I enjoy working in this space. Construction is often portrayed as slow to change, yet time and again I see leadership teams who are thoughtful, ambitious and committed to doing things better. When those qualities are combined with a clear, practical understanding of AI, the potential is significant.
My thanks to the Kane Group team for their energy, insight and engagement throughout the day. It was a pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking organisation and a great example of how AI conversations in construction are maturing from experimentation to strategic intent.
