How AI Can Transform Social Housing – Speaking at the NIFHA Annual Conference
I was pleased to speak at the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations Annual Conference at the Slieve Donard Hotel, sharing practical insights on how AI can be applied across social housing in meaningful, realistic ways.
My session, From Repairs to Residents, focused on how housing associations can use AI to improve service delivery, strengthen resident engagement, and relieve operational pressure, without large-scale system overhauls or complex technical projects. We explored how AI can support areas such as repairs management, demand prioritisation, internal workflows, and data-led decision-making, while still maintaining trust, compliance, and accountability.
Rather than focusing on abstract innovation, the emphasis was on practical, off-the-shelf AI tools that housing providers can adopt now to improve efficiency and resident outcomes. The conversation reflected a growing recognition across the sector that AI is not just a technology issue, but a strategic and organisational one.
It was encouraging to see strong engagement from housing leaders who are actively exploring how AI can help them deliver better services for residents while managing increasing operational and financial pressures.
